Last weekend we were invited to go Mattel Play in Liverpool, I didn’t realise how far away it was from Staffordshire but it was an adventure! Dylan had a great time. I would say it would be the perfect place to take young children and toddlers for a playdate with other mums or as a family. The floor is very slippy! so unlike other play centers, I would advise to keep shoes on. My friend came with me with her little boy and he had his shoes off for a brief moment whilst playing and fell over had a nasty bump on the head as the floors aren’t soft.
I would like to add that the parking at Albert Docks is very expensive most I have ever had to pay £8 for 3 hours, we aren’t local to the area so was unsure if there was any other parking closer. We went at a perfect time with all the lights now being up, also have the fair on whilst we were there so there was plenty to see and do! Albert Docks is such a pretty place and there where so many lovely food places to eat! I would go back one day and possibly go for the weekend and have drinks and try the local restaurants! Just need to convince the other half to take me on a date night!
Anyway back to Mattel play, Dylan had an amazing time we were in there a few hours and there was a lot to see and do. He wasn’t sure what to go on first he loved how you can dress up in the costumes for the Fireman Sam and Bob The Builder. Mattel Play is an indoor play center with the 3 themed areas Thomas And Friends, Fireman Sam, Bob The Builder. There is a cafe at the entrance to a large seating area.
The first zone is Thomas and Friends I was really impressed that everything has been planned for children everything is at child level and child-sized, so taller adults might need to duck down! Before going into the main area there is a role play area which is the ticket office. You are also able to play on the large Thomas and Rosie, Percy and an upturned Troublesome Truck.
There are smaller trains for children to climb into and can play there is a track for them to go round, Dylan loved this and couldn’t wait to get back on the train and go round again! We then went into the Gigantic ball pit this was also a hit! there is a Harold Helicopter there and he had great fun climbing in and turning the top of the helicopter. The next area is the Bob The builder zone as you walk in you see the large Scoop Digger Dylan went mad for this he jumped straight in! He ran over to pick up the builders hat and high viz vest.
This area is very different to the first one as it has an area for building which is set up with benches and boxes of Duplo and Mega blocks. There is also a brilliant drawing area, There is also small diggers you can sit on and play with the sand.
Fireman Sam is the last play area which is downstairs when you enter you are prompted to collect a hat and an ax. He then ran straight to the large fire engine spent ages playing and turning the engine on and off. There is also an area to put out the fire, as well as a boat and a small slide to go down.
He also loved to go down the fire pole and to go into the shop and scan the fruit and veg and pop them into a shopping trolly. There is also a shop at the end Dylan choose Fireman Sam bubble bath and a Hot Wheels toy car. There is a lot to see in the shop and a great selection of different toys and other useful items like plates and cups, the shop is reasonably priced just like the cafe I did have a quick look at what they had to offer!
